The NFL Conference Championships are here! After historic victories, the Lions, Chiefs, 49ers and Ravens battle for a spot in the Super Bowl.

The underdog Lions seek their first road playoff win since 1957 against the Niners, favorites all season long. Detroit overcame immense odds just to reach this point after starting the year with 250-1 odds to win it all. Now they stand one win away from the Super Bowl behind offensive wizard Dan Campbell. Meanwhile, Patrick Mahomes - who has masterfully led the Chiefs as an underdog in recent weeks - will aim to spoil the party for the Ravens playing their fourth straight home game.

Several statistical trends raise the chances of major upsets. Like the 2002 Patriots and 2013 Ravens, the Lions could author a massive shocker for the ages. Teams that take down quarterback Josh Allen and the Bills often struggle mightily the next week, perhaps foreboding for Mahomes' Chiefs.

Detroit rides a sizzling 13-6 against the spread record this season into San Francisco. Their 36-17 mark under Campbell since 2021 is historically impressive - the best 3-year ATS stretch by any team since Bill Belichick's Patriots earlier this century. An indoor setting also suits quarterback Jared Goff, who has nice numbers inside compared to outdoors. Still, Kyle Shanahan’s 49ers rarely lose at home in January thanks to a dominant defense and run game. And Mahomes is a stellar 12-2 in games on multiple-road-game trips in his career.

With soaring preseason odds and franchise history behind them, plus a chance for more magical moments ahead on the sport's biggest stage, the final four heavyweights clash with legacy on the line. The winner hoists the Lamar Hunt Trophy as the AFC or NFC Champion. The loser ponders what could’ve been after coming so agonizingly close to the Super Bowl.
