With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility
With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility

So you have done it. You have found your passion, started up a business and worked insanely hard. It has been a rough and long journey and you find that you are now a successful entrepreneur. Entrepreneurs play a key role in the overall economy, building wealth, bringing innovation and creating jobs just to name a few. These are important and powerful things for society as a whole.
Hopefully you have decided when starting to use this power wisely, but if you have not thought about it now is the time. At this point, you will be making an impact no matter what.
So in keeping with my current superhero them, let us look at one. Iron Man. I bet you thought I was going to bring up Spiderman. Yes, this phrase comes from his story but in this case, I think that Iron Man fits the type of power we as entrepreneurs wield.
Yes I know that Tony Stark is not an entrepreneur, however, he is a businessman. The first movie shows him using his power as a wealthy businessman selfishly and not really caring about the impact his company was making. After a rather strong wakeup call, he decided to change the impact his company was making. He realized that his company was having a negative effect on the world. Seeing this he immediately and drastically changed the direction of his company and his life. This is what turned him from a spoiled brat into a superhero.
Yes this is a bit of an extreme example, not everyone will become a multi-billionaire playboy like him, however, the principle remains the same. What type of impact and legacy do you want to leave? Do you want to be remembered as a hero or as a villain? I hope to be a hero.
